AM I WILLING?

I’ve been thinking a lot lately about the chaos of life at times and the routines both made and broken along the way. My mind wanders in and out of ideas and initiatives of the what ifs and how comes. Even in this season of life and during what seems like a lockdown, I still find that the moments are fleeting and the time for intentional reflection aren’t always a priority. Earlier this week the thought came clearly to me that time is something we must learn to master if we are to maximize it. What I’m trying to say is for those that learn to protect their time and be on purpose with what occupies their calendar, will ultimately become more effective in life. So this is what I am proposing for this upcoming week. Two things:

CLARIFY YOUR CALENDAR: be responsible for today, and for future growth activities. Reflect upon your path and think about what matters most today. Schedule and keep an appointment with yourself for 15 minutes to win the day: Clear your head. Set intentions. Schedule the needle movers for your day and for your future. Make it count.

MAKE A PROMISE AND KEEP IT: make a promise to yourself on someone else’s behalf and keep it. Honor that person by honoring your promise to yourself. Pick that hard thing that you’ve been so hesitant to start or set into motion and commit to it. Pick that thing you haven’t done and know you should. What promises are you making and keeping? Today is a new day. Make one new promise today and keep it all week.

These may seem simplistic, but I’ve found them to be extremely difficult and the actions rare for the vast majority of us. When you lean into growth, it takes tremendous courage to become your best self.

From the voice of one of my dear friends and mentors @alan.2.ayers, “AM I WILLING?”

So for this week my friends, ask yourself that question. Schedule and protect your 15 minutes to win the day. Every day. Try is for this week and let me know what comes of it.

As for me, YES, I am willing and able and commit to own each day. Today, I will schedule and protect my 15 minutes to win the day. I know the promise I must make to myself and how I will serve others around me.

Recall that when me make and keep commitments to ourself and others there’s a natural confidence and a surety that follows.

Remember that growth is always a choice!

Until next time my friends, make it a great one, and remember to always…HONOR.THE.GIFT.
